Biography
A Wise Opponent (AWO) is a progressive hard rock band that is comprised of three men that have grown up playing together in venues across Iowa, Illinois and Missouri. AWO aims to give a positive alternative to hard rock, providing encouraging music that challenges the listener to surrender their life even more to JESUS CHRIST.

AWO formed in the Fall of 2009 after the three members decided that they did not want to just play worship music. They had written several songs from early 2003-2007 with worship leader and young adults youth pastor Joshua Winn, and felt they had the capacity to begin to write hard rock music. This started with an instrumental called Honey Roasted Chorus.

Shortly after they formed, they began learning cover songs from bands like Blindside, Pillar, Jonah 33, Seventh Day Slumber, and Thousand Foot Krutch. AWO began to play gigs all around Iowa. Their first demo album called A Wise Opponent was recorded and mastered at Elastik Labs in Cedar Rapids, IA with producer and owner Alex Best in early 2011.

Hey everybody! We haven't been out playing lately because we have been writing new music in November! We have 6 new songs after our EP release in February that we are very excited about. Never Again, The Storm I've Made, Your Only Chance, Last Man Standing, Life is Fragile, and one untitled that is not quite finished. Who wants to see AWO come out with a full-length album! Thanks fans for your support~

Thanks everyone that has come out to our most recent gigs. Rocking Frankenfest with Stinkbait the Band and No Outlet was a blast! Thanks to all that gave extra to benefit St. Jude's. Don't miss out on our October 22nd gig in Keokuk at Common Grounds!

Jesse: As far as total work, probably three complete days. We were in the studio probably 4 seperate times. However, this was over a span of a month or so. Thanks for your interest, and we are glad you enjoyed the music!

We did drums and guitar on one day and then bass and vocals the second day. Then just spent time listening to it and cleaning up the little mess ups.
